Healthy Relationships Don't Just Happen

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to have good relationships while others can't seem to get along with anyone? What do these people know that the others don't know? Believe it or not the answer isn't as technical as you might think.

Just because someone can mingle well at a party doesn't mean their personal life is overrun with friends, and family. The healthiest relationships are had by those who have learned to forgive, love, and not try to control others. At the moment you might be thinking, that is impossible. You don't have to have a lot of relationships in order for them to be good ones. Through the course of a relationship you will have times when you disagree. That's a good thing. Positive feedback and opposition can help you remain objective about a variety of topics. People who are right for each other are those who create feelings of strength and inspiration. If you have one person in your life that supports you and cares about you as a person, then you have something many people long for.

Being bitter can cause negative thoughts and feelings about everyone you come in contact with. Such as, suspicious paranoid thoughts that everyone is out to bring harm and take advantage of you is tormenting. These types of feelings come from holding on to negative things from your past. Let the pain from past harmful relationships go, they are like poison. When left unchecked the poison can spread to every relationship you have. When this happens it causes fear to rise up, and fear makes it difficult if not impossible to trust anyone.

In order to build solid unions with others you have to be willing to take risks. In other words, you have to be willing to put yourself out there emotionally and open your heart. When you open your heart to others this can make you vulnerable, but if you don't open your heart, nobody can ever get close enough to be a true friend. It's up to you to weigh the pros and cons of having comrades or being a lone ranger. Make a list for yourself and see what is more important to you. Would you rather be alone, or have someone to share your life with. You don't need a lot of people in your life to be satisfied, but we all need someone in order to be whole.

Not every encounter with human beings will be a positive one, but there are some good people still on earth. Reflect the type of people you want to attract. If you are outgoing and fun-loving, don't be afraid to show it. Open your heart to new experiences and people; this might be just what you need. A good friend is worth their weight in gold. Don't hold back, reach out and enjoy the benefits. God created us to give and receive love. The love of family, friends, or a good spouse makes life a whole lot sweeter.

In order to thrive in this fast growing society we need to learn how to get along with others. The most rewarding relationships are those that encourage us to be our best. Some people have lost their desire to have close friendships because of past mistakes. That is understandable, however getting over past wounds and letting others in our lives can make our lives richer and happier.
